It is believed that streamlet of water is very dear to Lord Shiva. Thus unction with pure water pleases lord Shiva. It causes rain and also calms fever. Performing Abhisheka especially in the month of Sharavana is very beneficial. Person may attain salvation if he is anointing with black sesame in the sacred water. Offering black sesame to lord Shiva remove all sins.

Offering flowers to lord Shiva frees person from the cycle of life and death. Happiness of Lord Ashutosh is obtained by anointing. Ill effects of all planets are removed.
